GameGavel.com is owned and operated by Jasen with the support of his wife Rhiannon. Game Gavel is registered with the State of Florida by Jasen, and is considered a sole proprietorship. Future plans include incorporation, however, for now it will remain a sole proprietorship during the adoption period.
Game Gavel is run by a video game enthusiast, for other enthusiasts. It is built on tried and true technology with no expense spared on functionality and security. Game Gavel may be a small site as compared to the giant auction sites, but it operates just as safely and securely with SSL and a private dedicated server.
Here are just a few reasons to try GameGavel.com:
Because Game Gavel is driven by its customers desires, don’t hesitate to contact support@gamegavel.com for suggestions on how to improve the site. No idea is a bad idea!
I was born in October of 1981, and grew up in a Military family moving all around the United States. In the early 90’s, well after all of my friends, I finally got a Nintendo Entertainment System. My younger brother, Jeryd, and I played for hours together for about a week. It was at that point Jeryd realized that he lost so much because the Goombas were not the same as the mushroom that made you Super Mario, among other facts I may have misrepresented. After that, I never beat my brother at a single game ever again.
It was about this time that I learned that I had the drive to be an entrepreneur. Mowing grass, babysitting, cleaning gutters, or raking leaves all brought the money needed to buy new games and accessories for my NES. Eventually, Jeryd and I had routine customers for all our yard work services.
I eventually made the jump to 16-Bit gaming with a new Sega Genesis. While everyone else was playing their Super Nintendo, I was enjoying the blast processing that came standard with every Sega Genesis sold. Over time my Genesis transformed into the Sega Genesis with 32X and Sega CD monstrosity that everyone quickly hated.
High school came along and video games suddenly were not cool anymore. I also was living in an area where most families couldn’t afford video games, therefore, nobody had them or wanted to play them. This was the beginning of the age of no gaming that lasted about 6 years, well into college.
During my awkward High School Years I became a member of the National Honors Society, and played saxophone in the school’s marching, jazz, and symphonic band. In 1995-1996 I was introduced to the world of PC’s where I quickly learned that I had a knack for the digital life. In my spare time I taught myself HTML and Photoshop, and learned how to build webpages. To finance my desired way of life, I put these acquired computer repair skills to work and became a member of the Dell Technical Support team, through an outsourcing company in Orlando FL. In May of 1999 I graduated High School, finishing among the top of my class.
January 2000 came about, I left Dell and headed to Gainesville, Florida to become a proud member of the Gator Nation. October 2000 brought the launch of the Playstation 2. Everyone on campus was itching to get their own, but they were sold out everywhere. One weekend in March of 2001 I happened across one at a mall game store and purchased it on the spot. My love of video games was instantly revitalized. Over the next couple of years, when not attending football games nor occasionally studying, my dorm room was lit by my favorite games.
May 2003 marked the end of an era, and I graduated from UF with a degree in Mathematics and Statistics. From here, I joined the ranks of the US Navy as an officer and went to Nuclear Power School and Nuclear Prototype Training. Completing both successfully, I started on my chosen career path as a submariner. In December 2004 I married Rhiannon, my college sweetheart.
From 2003-2007 my modest collection of a PS2 slowly grew into the 30+ console collection and game room that I enjoy when I am not working hard at my day job or the website.
When I am not working, busy with the GameGavel.com, or spending time with Rhiannon and my jerky dogs, I am working on my Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Naval Post Graduate School.
