Hey all,

I feel that many of you do not understand what one of the most important features is regarding selling on GameGavel.

All sellers, who use a fixed price/buy now type listing, have their listings show up in Google searches when people search for your items there.

One example that you can currently see is - type this into http://www.google.com seach bar: spyro the dragon playstation 1

Now top of page you will see some items for sale. Now click on Shopping Results and you will see a GameGavel listing for that item.

So now, even though GameGavel is relatively small, your listings are also seen on Google, the biggest search engine on the planet.

Again, this is a free service to our sellers. You don't have to do anything except list your items and use a fixed price listing. Our feed updates every morning at 6:00 AM EST.

So get some items listed as this also helps bring people into the site that find your item in Google. It helps us all out!

It works even better if you are selling items that are less
common like the 5200 Millipede, notice it only list the two
items

Just noticed something it looks like the Google search is done by
location (zip code) is that a default search ? or is there a
way to search all locations?

Oh I forgot to ask you said the feed was sent in at 6:00 AM
is that our time ? want to make sure all my re-listing is done
before the feed is sent

Good question. I know I don't have any control over that either way but I will try and find out. And the feed happens at 6:00 AM Eastern Standard Time each morning.

Someone on the site came here from this search: Scroll to bottom of page and see the listing.

Here are our Google Analytics stats for the past 30-days. You can see yesterday GG had almost 3,000 unique visitors. And the trend over the last 4 days is when our Google feeds went back up. The feeds almost triples the traffic to the site.

It makes a huge difference to our sellers when we have that kind of traffic. Also notice that 53% of our visitors the past 30 days were first time visitors.

All your Base r belong to Google. ;)

I'd never heard of Google Base until all this fiasco over it this week. Interesting to see what it does. Do Bing, Yahoo, or Excite have similar applications?

Dumb question of the day. How is a fixed price listing defined? Do you just set the buy now price the same as the starting bid. I want to be sure I hit the Google Base feed.

That is correct :)

Tried a couple of fixed price listings and they show up nicely, but there is one possible problem

Search for Nintendo NES with new 72 pin SMB zapper and find my listing. It shows New even though I listed it as used, excellent condition.

The Mini SNES I listed as used, good condition shows up properly as used.

I may have figured it out. I had 'with New 72 Pin connector' in the short description. I'll bet it parses for certain words to classify. I changed it to replacement 72 pin connector. I'll see tomorrow if it shows as used. Bet it does.

Let me know what you find out. Thanks,

Changing it in the short description didn't have any effect. Still shows as 'New'. I've reworded my title to exclude the word new also. I'll let you know tomorrow morning.

It is definitely the word new in the title that makes the item show as condition: New. Reworded that and the next day it was showing as used.

Does this update 7 days a week or only M-F? I want to be sure my listings end and restart in such a way as to get picked up again the next morning.

Mike,

Do relists get picked up by this feed. Seems like my new listings are showing up on Google shopping, but the ones that I changed to be fixed price didn't even after they ended and were relisted.

Hey Dave,

I assumed they were, but I will double check now. Are you sure none of them are showing up? Remembering it may take until 6:00AM the next morning depending on when you updated them.

Well, I thought it was all of them, but it's not. I just checked 6 items. 4 of them show up and 2 do not.

Roadblasters NES
Side Pocket NES
Millipede Nes
Nintendo World Cup NES all show up

Rocketeer NES
Ski or Die NES do not.

Weird.

These were all relisted Sunday night at the same time.

I checked again last night and it looks like everything is showing up now. Maybe just a one time glitch or something.

I've gotta say this is a great addition to the site! I'm seeing a sizeable increase in views and sales.

Gonna try to get quite a bit more stuff listed in the next couple of weeks. My selection is thinning out a bit due to sales and I know it pays to keep a good variety up for people to look at.

We are nearing 80,000 unique visitors each month now. I wish more sellers would start listing. Traffic is really not an issue now, but lack of new items.

What am I doing wrong? My stuff isn't showing up on Google shopping anymore. Do relists not show? Looks like lots of other listings from GG are there, but none of mine are.

So would this work to help people visit you site? Or is it just for sites that sell any thing (i.e. real estate) or what not?

Sorry, I don't understand your question? Yes, Google does bring new people to the site. When they see one of our sellers listing there and it brings them in. Is this what you are asking?

I understand it bring people to sites like this since your selling a small material object like a video game. Or say Ebay selling toys it will show up on google base. But what i am trying to say is what if someone isn't selling luxury goods (Like Video Games) but a service. Then would that service show up on google base, or the products section in google?

I would figure it wouldn't if I didn't explain myself well just tell me and I'll give up :). It is more or less a meaningless question anyone, more out of just curiosity.
