I popped in the Atari Anthology for the PS2 a minute ago because I realized I haven't REALLY sat down in front of Millipede for the Atari 2600 in around 20 years.

I mean, I've PLAYED it since then ... but never for more than a couple of minutes.

Way back when I LOVED that game, that, Missile Command and Yar's Revenge were the games I played the most for it. And I remember being at least SOMEWHAT good at that game.

I play it now and DAMMIT it's hard. lol I barely got to 85,000 points before I bit the dust. :P Oh, and for the record, I still maintain that the 2600 version is better than the arcade version. Just feels better for some reason.

Maybe because that's the one I played when I was a kid and never played the arcade version until the mid 90's when I got into emulation.

But I'm sidetracking, which I tend to do a whole lot.

I play a LOT of bullet hell shooters. You would think I'd at least do halfway decent at this because for how much the game throws at you it can definitely be considered a bullet hell shooter. With millipedes and mushrooms.

But does anyone else have this problem where you KNEW you were good at a game when you were younger, and you play it now and just get your ass handed to you and wonder "What? What the hell just happened?"

I still love the game of course, and I can't think of a single reason why I stopped playing. I'm definitely going to start again though.

Myself and a few friends have really been trying to get back into the retro gaming and boy does it highlight our loss of twitch-gaming skills... I had a go at some of my fav shooters to get my skills back but its been tough, although one of my friends went in another direction - hes been playing various platformers and has now actually got -better- than he ever was back in the day - he just finished Manic Miner!
