http://www.riverviewparkdsm.com/periscope.jpgWasn't sure if this should go in the Arcade section, so I'm putting it in the "everything else" area.
For some reason I was spending some time reading wikipedia articles on defunct amusement parks. I"m not sure why, but there something about decrepit / abandoned spaces that were once bright and cheery that I find compelling.
At any rate this led me to this post about a defunct amusement park in Iowa (http://www.riverviewparkdsm.com/pic14.html).
There are some great images of old electro mechanical arcade machines. I'd love to find an arcade that actually had some of these in operation. I'm a little to young to remember seeing a lot of these in the wild. I remember playing some ball bearing shooting games at Disneyland around the mid 80s, but other than a few sad old "Sub Marine" games here and there I've never seen a nice working example of these "pre-video" machines.
Anyway check it out (http://www.riverviewparkdsm.com/pic14.html)! Anyone else got any other galleries of this type of thing? totally fascinating.
