I think you have to get to the reason for the ban.
If it is to stop US Military playing the game it is pointless and will probably increase sales by a percentage. If it's to stop the political backlash from senators etc then the namby pamby assholes win again.

Obviously any service member can just step off post and go buy it. I don't care for the military over reaching and meddling in the personal lives of soldiers, when I was in the Army I sure didn't appreciate it when they tried that. But, on the other hand should publishers be making a game where that kind of play is a feature? I don't think it should be a matter of law, or for government involvement, but as a matter of taste you would think they would not do that. But, then again, I sure enjoy firing up my German jets in the WWII sims which would have been seen in the same light 60 years ago. So I don't know, it is a tough one.

I dunno. It seems tasteless to put that feature in while, lets face it, we are STILL FACING taliban forces. This isn't like re-enacting a World War 2 battle on the part of Germany, or a Civil War battle on the part of the Confederacy, cause the fight still goes on, people are still dying.
On the other hand, I believe in the right of someone to create the said content, and will defend their right to create whatever game they want. Will I buy it? Nope. I think its completely tasteless. But I'm totally cool with them creating it, and think it's wrong to restrict it from people who may want to play it. Let the people make the choice, not the government.
