I hooked up my Flashback 2 to a 720p LG HDTV just to see how it would look, and tried out Caverns of Mars and Lunar Lander on it. On a regular old CRT old definition (I would call it "standard", but it seems that 720p is the new one heh) TV the flicker in those two games, at least in my version of the Flashback 2, is horrendous. Nothing to keep them from being played, but definitely VERY flickery.

But on the HDTV, nothin. No flicker at all, played just fine. Is there something in the TV that would eliminate that?

I am guessing it is due to the difference between interlaced and non-interlaced video. Flicker from what I understand is just a trick that takes advantage of interlacing to draw items on the same line every half frame. A non-tube HD set only does progressive scan, which means they are unable to display interlaced video, and blend frames from an interlaced signal to fake it. So that would eliminate the flicker.
