Maybe a once a week thing where it just sends a quick and dirty email of what the latest items are for each category in kind of a text kinda thing with the Featured Listings being at the top and prominent?
Okay, there are a shitton of Featured Listings, and they don't REALLY change that much ... but maybe do some kinda wizadry to try to tailor it to the person, like checkboxes saying "I want info on this or that system." Or if the person wants it, everything?
With an abundantly clear and idiot proof/easy one click way of unsubscribing to the feature if the person doesn't want it?
I got emails like that ALL THE TIME from eBay ... but the reason I almost NEVER pay attention to them (and ultimately too lazy to unsubscribe) is BECAUSE it's eBay. They're entirely too big to send me shit that I would actually be interested in the majority of the time.
GameGavel is different to me in the fact that it's much much smaller and geared toward one general thing. If I got an email like that once a week or something, I would actually click it and see what's going on.
And for the people like me who are too lazy to unsubscribe there could be ad revenue or whatever. Or maybe get people to do a "Featured Listing" more often or whatever to get it noticed more or something. I don't know how all that works. heh
