I just saw Super 8 this weekend and I enjoyed it immensely. I like the story and characters but what really got me were the little attentions to detail. I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone but I do have to say this. It is full of retro! Have any of you seen it? What did you think of it? Anyone plan on seeing it?

Only seen parts of it - our studio were the effects house for the movie - but my colleagues tell me its pretty awesome, very much in the vein of "ET" or "Close Encounters".

Ooops thanks for moving this thread into its proper place. I must of been suffering from a lack of drinking. @retroshaun: Your effects studio does great work. I really felt like I was watching a long lost late 70's/ early 80's film in the vein of close encounters and E.T. I mean not just the plot but the visuals and effects as well. Socal you must see this film as soon as possible. I found myself spending an inordinate amount of time trying to spot the retro in the film. Even my wife liked it and she usually hates the films that I find entertaining.

Thanks man :) Go see Transformers 3 this coming weekend - I made some of the robots. Tho I can't vouch for the quality of the story of course! Hehe!

I saw it the day it came out, and I thought it was really great. It's not an "alien" movie like E.T. and not quite the "kids adventure" movie like The Goonies, but it's right in the middle. I think that if you're looking for one specific thing, you could end up being disappointed. Best to go into it with no assumptions.

I had the same thoughts myself. Even though it was an alien movie I thought of the goonies too. Thought it was more of a Monster Squad movie.
