It may be old news to most, i thought it might be of interest as the latest 'top ten' is concerning Text Adventures.
You can download an app for free called FROTZ, it will enable you to play home made adventures and even ZORK (MIT Version).

Ya, I picked this up quite a while ago on my ipod touch and now have it on ipad. Like Dk said, it is a great, free ap, and gives you access to tons of text adventures that play very well on the iPad format.
