I feel like a bad person, I've just ordered a Vita (my mate said he'd give me a free rayman origins if i did)
First time I got a dev unit last year and gazed at the screen I knew it would be inevitable, Wipeout practically seals the deal
Anyone else getting one?
I stuck the thread in here as it's essentially the PSP2
Anyway, I'm off to rob some old ladies or rig the lottery machines, as my salary isn't enough to fund my foolhardiness

No chance of me getting a vita. It is too similar to the psp, nothing is new except touch and it will probably have specs between the ps1 and ps2 inside it this time around. Also it is rumoured a slim one will come out in a few months after its release also.
Im suprised xbox hasnt jumped on board with a handheld yet, maybe they will do so this coming xmas?

I will own one some day but not for a good while yet.
I played with one in the shop and that screen is amazing and the real joysticks as opposed to sliding nubs are amazing.
Let me know when N64 and Gamecube emulators are running on it and I'm in. ;)

I really want one however I doubt that I will be picking one up just yet. Hell I didn't pick up the psp phat until the psp slim had already come out! I have also tested one out and like always it seems like a quality Sony product. I'm just hoping that like the psp and unlike the 3DS that it actually get's released here in pirate country.

Just spoke with a Korean games shop owner. He showed me a brochure that shocked and frightened me. I'm sure to have a nightmare tonight.
Korean Vita with 3g: 486.000 won about 432 American. Wifi only: 390,00 won about 340 U.S. dollars. Shit I'll be waiting for a long while unless that bank heist goes thru! Scott can you hook me up with one of those Korean military friends of yours to get one from the PX? Just kidding I'll probably just wait out the initial sticker shock, wait a year and get it for 200 bucks! Once the pirates get a grab on it the prices here bomb like a racist joke at a Black Panther party. 3Ds has just dropped to a whopping 257 American Pesos! Only a hundy overpriced!

I don't think I'll be getting a Vita. The 3DS was priced right once it hit 170, Vita is still too high for my tastes. I HAVE ordered a new handheld though....check this thing out!

Its like a PSP but runs Android instead. Good stuff. Has plenty of power to emulate everything up to PS1/N64 era stuff. Thank you China for your legally questionable hardware! And cheap too at under 100 bucks shipped. If anyone else here orders one I'll post guides on how to reflash the firmware with better emulators and how to mod the OS if needed, i've already looked up the info, just waiting on the unit to come in.

Looks great - I would be tempted. Can you do a quick review when you get your hands on it?

I went out last night at midnight to get one. Was the only person there for it. Bought a 3g model and a starter kit. Did not buy a physical game. Downloaded Super Stardust Delta when I got home (great game!). Also, been trying out the the features and demos available on the PSN. May get Touch My Katamari or Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus in a few days. The systems looks and feels great. The screen is amazing. The dual joysticks make all the difference. The multi-touch surfaces and motion control make for some interesting options for control schemes. The home screen user interface is playful and iPhone like. The playstation store is much easier to navigate and use than the PS3 store (missing videos and screenshot of games though). I am really loving it. Just wished Gravity Rush was a launch title.
The one thing that is bothering me is the lack of compatibly with digital titles I already own. Sony has been very misleading about the remote play feature. I thought I would be able to load my memory card with psone classics at least, but they are not compatible. You can access them via remote play, but the video quality and response time sucks (I was using wifi on my PS3, it may work better with a wired setup). You can play only a handful of PS3 games with remote play, and I own none of them.

So if I have bought a PS1 game on the PSN store for my PSP (and I have) I couldn't play it on the Vita?

Not that I have found. When I go to my Download List it states beside the PS1 games "Cannot download using a PS Vita system." I could not find an option to transfer it from the PS3.
What I gather from a quick look on the Net is that the PS1 games will be made available later.

That would be a real shame if that doesn't happen, but it goes to show my feelings on buying "virtual" games are well founded.
Firstly Nintendo are still f***ing me around over my eShop account and now Sony appear to be all but stealing my money as well. I can't see them blocking it, I really can't, because then they would need to host PS1 games for PSP and PS1 games for Vita as well, unless they just phase out and kill PS1 games for PSP.

I think Vita needs it's own title.....hopefully it will get more posts than the PSP

This may sound evil but I believe I will wait until the Vita is properly hacked before I pick one up. I did the same with the PSP when it came out. Here is the way things worked with the PSP and later the PS3: 1. Sony makes a proprietary system with lots of headache inducing hoops to jump through in hopes hackers won't break it open. 2. A few days or months (years for the PS3) later someone hacks it and you can actually use the damn thing properly. 3. Sony gets mad at hackers for fixing their broken piece of shit and sues them. LOL Gotta love Sony!
I just love this video so I have to post it again:

Saw this for the first time tonight and was mildly impressed with the screen. It is huge and beautiful! Played me some Hot Shots Golf at Target and thought it was pretty good. I am getting tempted but will prob wait until the first price drop and discounted games :)

I did some trade in madness to get my Vita lol - got x6 copies of mariokart7 @ £20 each and traded them at Game UK recently for £37.50 lol!! (no wonder they are going bankrupt).
So I got my Vita for £120 :-)
The console itself is superb piece of kit - that OLED screen is hands down stunning - amazing/perfect blacks and no blur or ghosting. I got Uncharted with mine (excellent game) and a 16GB mem card. Just downloaded Stardust and bejesus that screen is amazing for that game :-) the colours glow like neon and the blacks are deep black inky pools.
Personally I'm looking forward to when this thing is cracked and emulators are released but I currently have my mobile emulator powerhouse in the shape of the Xperia Play R800i - I have reviewed this here (http://www.gamegavel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5045).
All the best Retrogaming Podcast as always I doff my cap at your superb podcasts :-)

I own Gravity Rush and Final Fantasy Tactics. I was excited about getting Jet Set Radio and Mutant Blobs. I loved Jet Grind Radio on the Dreamcast, and it looks wonderful on the Vita screen. I don't have enough space on my card to download Uncharted or WipEout at the moment. Vita memory cards fill up so fast and they are expensive. Damn you Sony for not just putting an SD card slot on the thing.

OK, so I picked one up on ebay today. It is coming with Battle Royale, Gravity Rush, Mortal Kombat, Unit 13; and downloaded with FF8 and Syphon Filter.
Also, I can get what is on PS Plus.
This is definitely enough to keep me busy, but, do any of you guys have recommendations?

Super Stardust Delta definitely. Pinball Arcade, Zen Pinball 2, and Motorstorm RC are all cool games that have Crossbuy with the PS3. Army Corps of Hell is good. It's like Pikmin meets demons and Heavy Metal. Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus is a good port.
I have been wanting to get Playstation All Stars for the PS3 which has Cross Buy with the Vita.
Many of the launch titles have dropped in price or are on sale for the holidays. You can get Hot Shots, WipEout, Katamari, and abunch of other for around $20 a piece.

I remember seeing a picture just as the Vita was released of a Micro SD card next to a Vita memory card, and the Vita one was slightly smaller in one dimension so a Micro SD card would never fit inside it properly.
Sony clearly learning from previous mistakes :-)

Yeah if they make one it would have to be some ugly stick type thing that went into the cable port or something, or maybe one that uses the game card slot. You can download ever game available for the system so the card slot would not be such a bad idea, especially if Sony wants to promote online purchasing.

Yeah, it's the only real reason for owning a PSP. :-)

I could deal with leaving the memory card slot open (or even removing the cover altogether) as a trade off for more storage at a more wallet friendly price. Long as whatever may crop up doesn't obscure the rear touchpad and hand grips. Hmm, this sounds like it'll be tricky one for whoever takes it on!
Yeah, it's the only real reason for owning a PSP. :-)
Indeed, I still use my PSP far more than my Vita, which I didn't think would happen when I bought it. Still not enough choice of games for my liking, and the late arrival of the PSOne game compatibility p*ssed me right off as well.

I am still loving my Vita. I play it most every night.
I just got platinum on Zero Escape and I have played through Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack. Trying to get 100% is tough on this game.
Also, downloaded Hard Boiled Chicken it is a really nice side scrolling platformer/puzzler type game.
The freebie games are fun as well. Jetpack Joyride, Frobisher Says (Wario type game), Fireworks (AR game), Cliff Diver (AR game), and Treasure Park are all great games...especially for the price.
If you are a PS Plus subscriber you get even more freebies every couple of weeks. I don't regret buying it and if the price gets cut it is definitely worth your money.
