Looking good, I will have to get one and see how it compares to the Coleco port. Is it correct that the game also features a port of the D2K arcade game? I just picked up the D2K mod for my DK cabinet and despite the difficulty, I like it.

It's a little confusing. Donkey Kong Arcade (DK1) was released last year, and it's really impressive. It is essentially the Donkey Kong arcade game with all 4 screens, intermissions, intros, etc, but on the Intellivision. This really shows what the Intellivision is capable of... lending credibility to the theory that Coleco intentionally released inferior versions of it's games on competing systems back in the day to make the Colecovision look better.
Granted, the modern Intellivision home-brew cartridges have much more technology available to them, with regard to memory capacity and such than was available back then, but still, this makes the original Coleco version of Donkey Kong for the Intellivision look like complete crap.
The original post by revolutionika was referring to a re-release of DK1 Arcade - minus the cool box, instruction manual, and overlays.
D2K Arcade, is the upcoming new release that not only has DK1 Arcade (with some bug fixes and improvements), but also includes a new game based on D2K Jumpman Returns. To quote: "It's TWO games in one! The first arcade game, PLUS a second game with five all NEW levels inspired by the arcade hit D2K: Jumpman Returns! 9 Screens in total!"

I bought DK1 Arcade (2 copies, actually), and absolutely love it. And I will definitely buy D2K Arcade as well.
I'm simply amazed at the high quality games that the home-brew Intellivision programmers have given us the past few years. They've really shown us what the system is capable of doing. And since it's one of my favorite "classic/retro" systems, I couldn't be more pleased.

That might be true, but this game uses nothing modern. There is no extra RAM, soundchip, or bankswitching in DK Arcade. It could have been done in the day. It uses about the same amount of storage as ECS Baseball did.
One interesting comment that the author made about Coleco Kong......He thought it would be a snap to improve it....but it was really really hard....I think he was a bit more sympathetic to the programmer after doing his own. We doubt that Coleco deliberately made it bad, but nevertheless, it is a horrible horrible game.....we think that DK Arcade holds up against ANY other home system.....in what other home version can you 'control the barrels' like in 'King of Kong?"
Also, we don't consider ourselves to be 'home brew'....we consider ourselves to be a reboot of Imagic/Activsion type companies selling new games for your Intellivision......our first 'proper' release is going to be shrinkwrapped and use ALL new materials...nothing recycled.

I wasn't aware of that with this particular cartridge. I'm even more impressed now.

Of course I'm not certain that they did, but seeing the game play of the original Intellivision version, you can't help but think that.

No insult intended, that just seems to be the general term used for anyone publishing new games. But now that you bring it up, I agree... the stuff you're doing, and others like IntelligentVision, and Joe Zbiciak deserve a better title than "home brew". You've all shown that high quality games, with all the accompanying high quality packaging and materials is possible. Obviously it takes a lot of time and effort, and an appreciation of the system, and it's fan-base. And for that, I applaud you. And that is why I'm always more than happy to pay for these releases when they come out. I certainly hope enough people feel the same way I do about it, so the incentive to develop new games continues long into the future.
