Sorry if I missed another thread on this topic.

I'm setting up a home arcade, up to 9 machines now. I will probably be adding a few more. I'm really wanting some cool way to have my retro consoles setup and ready to play in the arcade. I thought about some 80s style sofa and older TV, but this consumes a bit of space. My total arcade size is 11'x20'.

I've had some different ideas, like a TV/flat panel with a retro bezel in front of the TV, or some display unit (like the N64 one at McDonalds) with my consoles inside. Searching around I found some (pardon the SoCal reference) "really cool" NES multi game selectors from store displays but there are freaking expensive.

Any good ideas out there?

I'm looking for something that looks really cool and is easy to switch between consoles.

Thanks,

James

I just scored a really nice Vectrex locally here for $75, in excellent shape. Problem is, I need games!

There is currently a Vecrtom multigame on ebay, but I've bid it up to $65 and still not hit the reserve.

here it is

My question for you guys, what the max I should pay for this? Or, should I go with the 72 multigame board and put it into some random cart for around $100?

HELP!!!!!

Thanks,

This was mentioned _in another thread here (http://www.gamegavel.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6596&page=5)_ but I felt like it deserved it's own...

This was mentioned in another thread here but I felt like it deserved it's own thread, in particular because I want to publicly thank RFWarrior for making it happen! Read on...

As the title states, I am now the very proud owner of a sit-down (cockpit, if you will) Atari Night Driver!

This game was on my "must have" list, but I never thought I would come across one. It needs a little TLC, but is otherwise working, and in amazingly good condition, especially given that this is from the late '70s!

Night Driver was always a favorite of mine as a kid. I didn't get a chance to play the arcade version that often, but I played the SHIT out of it on my 2600.

Anyway, this beautiful arcade example was priced at $450. But I offered the seller $325 and he took it. There are even 4 extra board sets with it in case I need spare components in the future. And the fiberglass shell only appears to have one small crack near the bottom on one side. It does need some reassembly, some side art (and the on-screen car art), and maybe some cleaning up on the wiring harness, but none of that is a big deal to me.

Now I haven't actually seen the game in person yet, nor will I for some time. That's because, while I'm in Los Angeles, the Night Driver is in Oregon. And the only reason I knew about it in the first place is that fellow arcade collector, forum member (and Oregon resident) RFWarrior found it on Craigslist there, let me know about it, drove to the seller's place to check it out and complete the transaction, loaded it onto his truck, brought it back to his place, took numerous photos and videos to show me what I just bought, and will graciously store it until I can arrange transport to Los Angeles. Three big cheers for RFWarrior!!!

So, a friend of mine and the RetroGamingRound podcast, Retroshaun (here in the forums) flew into Southern California for a job interview. He flew in a day early on Sunday so we could nerd out and play games and drink beer :) I picked him up at the airport and we immediately drove over to see a large collection of games advertised for sale on Craigslist. We had first dibs and got a lot of great stuff at great prices.

Also, one of the item I picked up was a mint, CIB Phantasy Star for the Sega Master System. Have a look at what was also inside this box, a stapled hint page from Sega of America with hand drawn maps. How freaking cool is that? I am going to scan these page and will add a link to this thread for any of you that might want to print them off. Have any of you ever seen any similar hint sheets from Sega? It is so informal and unprofessional it has a unique charm about it vs. the over-the-top gaming industry of today.

This first one goes out to Socal!

Anyone who's grown up on the apple IIe or the original gameboy will get a kick out of this video. Also, I think Gridrunner already looks amazing on IOS/Android/ETC, but the special effects here are eye-popping in green monochrome!

Description:
This is the video showing a rooted Samsung vibrant Android phone running the AOKP rom with RGB setting set to full green. It's an amazing effect that totally reminds me of the green monochrome monitors we used when I was kid. It may also remind of the DMD gameboy at 3:14 . Enjoy!
