Out of all these it would be Tecmo Bowl. I was into the top down shooters like Commando and Heavy Barrel when I had my NES.
Best game has to be Castlevania 3. If you haven't already, do yourself a favor and play the Famicom version. The VRC6 chip really makes the soundtrack the best on the system also. I still love playing this game.

It was a tough choice between Contra and River City Ransom for me personally. Ended up picking Contra purely because I managed to beat that game when I was 10 without having to use the 30 lives code. Once.
Don't think I could ever do it again though.
And no Gauntlet or Bad Dudes?? :P
How about Bible Adventures? ;)

I voted for Metroid only because I never really got to play Super Mario Bros 3. Unbelieveable I know, but I just received a Nintendo Wii for my b-day so I can purchase it on the Virtual Console and see what I missed and I might change my mind. We'll see.

I voted for Super Mario Bros 3. I never had a NES but am slowly making my way through its catalogue of games. Really enjoyed playing through it on the Wii virtual console.

For a change I'm going to wait until I listen to the podcast before posting all knd of comments, with this exception: Balloon Fight rocks. Glad to see someone put it on their list.
Hmm.....my top picks would be Zelda, contra, metroid, and Mario 3, possibly switch one out with castlevania 3.
However picking from the whole library for me final fantasy is always on top.
I chose Dizzy. Granted, I never much cared for the NES, but I do think that that was one game that ported over to it surprisingly well. It looked great, it played well, and overall simply did not feel like a NES game to me.
What, no Megaman, no Bionic Commando![]()
