Default Multi Williams and Exidy Max-A-Flex

Ok. Mixed up the home arcade once again. The NBA Fastbreak pin was traded for a supernice Multi Williams (JROK) and some cash that then paid for the Exidy Max-A-Flex. The Exidy is a pretty rare arcade game that actually has an Atari 600XL mounted inside and it plays four game carts only made for this arcade: Boulderdash, AstroChase, Flip Flop and Bristles - all from First Star software. The Atari is actually bolted to the inside of the cabinet sans keyboard. It has 4 different marquees that reflect which game is currently being featured in the game. I think this was the first Multicade

Well be needing pictures of the interior of the Max-A-Flex, the listeners have got to see how cool this system was. It was a grandfather of multicades as Socal said and helped establish the solution for using multiple games on an existing system integrated into a coin-op machine, the timer! Nintendo later used the same method on the play choice 10. Coins buy you play time.

Did you get a manual with it? I think I have one if you need it.

Ya, I will open it up and take a photo or two. No manual with it but I've found one online. Do you have an original manual?

Damn thats beautiful. I thought I knew a lot of obscure games but this one totally passed me by.

With regards to the Multi Williams - I have one too but with a more Defender-esque button layout, this one doesn't look too friendly for Defender, Stargate etc?

Ya, the MW has Defender and Stargate disabled. The center stick is for Sinistar and Blaster. I am not a big Defender or SG fan so wasn't a problem. I love Robotron and Joust though

Aha that was to be my next question - what is the center stick for. Makes sense. Nice looking cab Mike.

BTW the Tempest cocktail powers up now and plays blind... just needs monitor repair.

I answer the question, "Are other 8-bit Atari computer carts compatible with the Max-A-Flex?"

Awesome! Any idea why the 3rd party games don't work then?
