Portable UMD Storage

Does anyone have a good portable UMD storage device/folder/setup? I have this mini back pack thing that has pouches for like 12, but they stretch and I can get 24 to 30 in it. Problem is even after weeding out older crap, and stupid purchases. I still don't have enough good protected storage for travel. I'm not having any luck on the internet. Thanks

Just mod the thing and shove them all onto a memory card.

I have considered this. As I would love a portable MAME set up, and those 32 GB mem sticks are getting cheap

If you travel a lot, it's definitely worth looking into. Loading the games up from a menu rather than dicking around with those ridiculous UMDs. Hrmm ... AND of course the emulation.

When I had my PSP the thing was worthless when it wasn't modded. :P

Of course I rarely ever played any actual PSP games on it when I did have it.

how hard is it to mod? I had my original xbox modded and yeah it was super nice having a 100 Gig HD to load games on and rarely get off my butt to switch games I think I even had mame on there, I know I had SNES emulation as I was playing Super Metroid, but the controls sucked for those super jumps

I never had an issue with the control using the Xbox controller. *shrug*

And the last one I modded was one of the original PSP models ... the 1000 or somethin like that. And I don't remember how it's done for the life off me because there's no reason for me to do it anymore. heh

That is why I am hesitant to mod mine it is an early early PSP-1000, I have thought about upgrading cause I do play outside when I bbq and it is impossible to see and I have seen the difference in load speeds between mine and newer ones...

Anyone have a link to a good walk through or website for this? I've looked around a bit and all the websites I find are shady and not clear on how to do this hack. Should I save my original psp and get a newer one for this? Thanks to anyone who has some helpful tips

I think the PSP-1000 series is the easiest version to hack, or at least it was when I went to hack one. At the time you required a Pandora Battery and a 512MB (or greater) magic gate compatible memory stick, but I think most of the Sony memory sticks are magic gate compatible anyway. From there it was just a case of copying the installation files onto the memory stick, booting the system with the Pandora battery and running the installer (make sure you system is on the mains for this). Getting the right firmware version can be tricky and I’m not up to date on what’s out there I’m afraid.

Sony does really love to play the firmware game though, so you may not be able to play the latest games immediately after they come out. If this is important to you then you may want to hold off or pick up a second PSP.

Even if you never run an emulator or "demo" a game it's worth doing just to improve battery life and load times, and of course to save carrying discs around.

BTW this mod is perhaps the easiest I've ever done after flashing the DS.
