That is wicked! NES in the 3rd dimension! It looks like hours and hours of work but I bet it's a fun project. You sir are an artist!

Sorry UK mike, i don't work in templates. I just sort of look at the 2D sprite and try to construct the 3D model in my mind and then make a 3D model with plenty of trial and error. This process involves making some pretty hideous first efforts. both Link and Mario are the results of hours of fiddling to get them just-right.

Not to take away from the 3D ones I worked my ass off on, but here's a bunch more 2D sprites I've made in the past.

    Megaman 1 Robot Master portraits

Portraits of the first nine robots built by Dr. Light. From top to bottom, left to right: Protoman, Megaman, Roll, Cutman, Gutsman, Bombman, Iceman, Fireman, Elecman. Although Megaman 1 characters, these portraits actually come from the ending of Megaman 3.

Portraits of the first nine robots built by Wily from Megaman 2. From top to bottom, left to right: Bubbleman, Airman, Quickman, Heatman, Woodman, Metalman, Flashman, Crashman.

By far one of my favorite games of all time, and some of my favorite sprites Ive made.

    Hatsune Miku!

I present to you the famed Vocaloid singer, Miku appears in all her beady-goodness!

This Miku is designed in the style of the GBA Pokémon Trainers. Just imagine facing off against Miku - I bet she'd just use a bunch of Farfetch'd.

Two sprites I did a long time ago. God do I love Megaman 2.

A duo that need no introduction, Jessie and James of Team Rocket burst to life as my latest pixelart project.

The sprites of course come from Pokémon Yellow, but I've color corrected them slightly edited some of their features and also separated the point where James' rose and Jessie' hair connected in the original sprite due to the Gameboy's spacing limitations.

    Cape Mario

Can you believe that I haven't done any SMW sprites yet!? This is my first step to rectify this problem!

    3D- E Tank

Yeah, I just made a 3D sprite. This doubles as a little storage box for SD cards, capacitors/resistors/transistors or whatever else small you have that needs to be stored!

I'll leave it there for now.

Okay guys, here's a little update. Thought it was time for some classic Street Fighter II love.

Chun Li preforming her famous supersonic kick. YATTA!

    Death, from Castlevania 3.

Here's another custom I made for a guy on NA.

Classic Mario, but double scaled! This thing is pretty huge. NES Mario cart for reference.

And to conclude with this post,

Portraits of the robots from Megaman 3. From top to bottom, left to right: Sparkman, Snakeman, Needleman, Hardman, Megaman, Topman, Geminiman, Magnetman, Shadowman.

Stupid question: Are the pieces glued together? In other words, do they have to remain on a table like a just-finished jigsaw puzzle?

No, I used to have these beads as a kid, the idea is you set them on a pin strip, and when you're done, you get a sheet of tracing paper and a laundry iron, and with the iron you melt a bit of the top of the beads and they bond together. When I was younger though I did burn one of my creations, lol.

    Kain and Paladin Cecil

Retro Nintendo set. The person who ordered this wanted four sprites that represented the NES era, though I cheated and used 16-bit Link. It wasn't until after I took this photo that I noticed I needed to refuse the beads along his leg there.

Well I figured I should update this thread to show you guys some more recent stuff I've been doing. These are all commissions I've got for the holidays this year.

    Protoman custom

Well, it wouldn't be me if I didn't do a Megaman sprite right? This is a 100% custom sprite based loosely on the Megaman Powered Up chibi style.

    Yoshi & Baby Mario

Sure, it's been done to death, but a classic sprite from an excellent retro game that really stands the test of time.

    Shantae!

My favorite videogame heroine returns in a enhanced custom sprite I've created based on the sexy half-genie's more recent DSi game. I've got plans for more Shantae sprites in the future as it really is one of the great underrated classics of our time.

    [fat] Majin Buu

fat Majin Buu from Dragonball Z Buu's Fury for the GBA.

    Family Guy's Stewie.

    Usagi, Sailor Moon

A color enhanced sprite I've made from a Japan-only GameBoy game with cute mascots from the mid 90s. I'm not a Sailor Moon expert, but I based the colors off official art.
