Good call on Yu Suzuki. Yuji Naka would probably be on my top 4 as well.

I had to go with Gunpei Yokoi. He singlehandedly revolutionised handheld gaming.

Minter is def worthy, but not sure for console designers although he did start producing some great stuff for the Jag! PC game designers no question about it, he will be on our top-10 for that.

I'm counting on Shiguru and Gunpei to be in the top three. So many great games between those two.

I'm also a big fan of Archer Maclean and David Crane, but don't see them scoring as high in the top ten. I also noticed John Romero, who did great things for the PC, but I am not too familiar with his console work other than ports of Doom and (shudder) Daikatana.

That top ten of PC game designers sounds very appealing to me. While I always thoroughly enjoy the show and listen eagerly to it in its entirety, my personal tastes and knowledge are almost exclusively classic computer games rather than console/arcade/pinball, so any added coverage of them is more than welcome as far as I am concerned.

I'll wait impatiently for that thread to add my own favourites.

Every FPS played on console owes it to Romero.

Great Top 10 discussion guys! I agree that Romero really should be in a Top 10 computer game designer list however. Prince of Persia was also ported over to just about every console, but you didn't include Jordan Mechner in the list. So, I'm hoping that you guys will do the PC Top 10 list soon... There's so many great PC game designers that you may need to split it up into different genres like action, adventure, arcade, etc.

great discussion as always. Crane, Romero, Yokoi bloody genii.
Although I adore the early work of Oliver Twins, well love it. Looking at the stuff published post 2003 is totally depressing, iCarly for gods sake but hell we all have mortgages to pay I suppose
