Lost a friend in a mid-air collision

Monday a few miles from my house a friend was up giving a standard biannual flight review when they collided with another aircraft. The other aircraft made it down and fortunately the pilot survived. But the plane that Paul was in crashed and burned killing him and the other pilot. The investigation is far from complete, but it seems that they just didn't see each other. A reminder that the business we engage in is not inherently dangerous but is not forgiving. It has jack to do with the show but I thought it would be appropriate to remember Paul just one more place.

Yeah that is a tough one. This time of year there are micro lites over my house most days and I always wonder about the wisdom of sitting strapped to a kite with nothing more than a washing machine engine between you and gravity.

With planes though, 9 times out of 10 it seems to be human error unfortunately and like you say, pretty unforgiving.

Life is a harsh mistress, but at least your friend died doing what he loved.
