Default Okay I'm much better now. I picked up a new pin!

I came across a Craigslist listing for two pins. I emailed the owner but didn't hear back, I got impatient and emailed him again, but this time included my phone#. He called and said well I've had 5 responses (having just sold a pin I believed him) but you're the only one that gave a phone number so you get first pick. Which is great because he had a Tales From The Crypt and a Dracula and priced them at $1600 each. I figured the TFTC was overpriced but the Dracula was a bit under. So I figured the Dracula had to be trashed. Well when I showed up I found the TFTC to be trashed but the Dracula was completely pristine. Once I played it, it was a done deal. He even through in a bunch of new parts, polishes, and LED's.

He had to move and it looked like the pins were nearly all that was left. Nice guy, I hope things work out for him.

This is a sweet playing machine. It just needs a good cleaning.

Dude, upon further inspection with a powerful light I couldn't find one scratch on the playfield. It's like new (just covered in old wax). The only things are the faded red of the cab, touched up paint on the back box (the wood seems to be delaminating a little). The coin door is missing a lock but he gave me a brand new one and the door shows no damage. The boards look solid and clean and free of any hacks (I'm sure I'll find something, but damn) The flippers are strong and have a very good feel. Maybe all the bad stuff is under the playfield. I looked in there but haven't tilted it all the way back yet since everything was in working order.

This game is brutal but it did yield to my novice skills for a couple of games.

This weekend I'll strip the playfield of parts and polish and wax. I like that part, fortunately.

I hadn't either. All I knew was that it was a player's favorite. I can see why.

Well after a late night last night and all of today I think I got it pretty well shopped out. Looks great! I'd still like to replace some plastics and I ran out of light bulbs, but it's been cleaned, polished and waxed inside and out, plus all new rubbers. The Mist Multiball wasn't working but it is now, I guess the optos were just dirty. I was hoping that was all it was.

It's a pretty complicated play field compared to the other two I've done. I was getting a little nervous when I had it stripped down as to whether I'd be able to get it back together. But it all worked out.

So I'm going to turn the volume up and the lights down and play this bitch!

I keep telling myself "ball control. Ball control. Ball control."
