Los Angeles Kings Win Stanley Cup

I'm not really a big sports guy, but do follow hockey. My Dad got me into it at a very early age (4 or 5), I played myself for many years, and have been a fan of the Los Angeles Kings just as long (they started the year I was born).

Tonight they did what I thought I'd never see - win the Stanley Cup.

So I guess Hell will start getting extremely cold now, pigs will compete with commercial jets for airspace, and the world will indeed be ending Decemeber 21, per The Mayan's prediction. And hell, maybe Mattel will come out with a new game console next week!

I'm not a hockey fan but like everything else, however I was real happy for LA, I have a lot of friends who are Kings fans so yeah, way to go! Now if only my Heat could pull their fingers out of their butts....

I hope you don't mind this being hijacked into a general sport thread.

As you may or may not know, the long and amusing saga involving Rangers finally getting their comeuppance for years of shady financial dealings and enormous, unmanageable debt is finally coming to a close. At last it appears that they will be forced into liquidation. This means that a new company will be formed to buy their assets and begin anew, without their name or badge and with their entire history erased. The newco will also carry the old team's colossal tax debt, be banned from European competition for three years and can only be admitted to the Scottish Premier League by a vote from the other teams.

Otherwise, they will have to apply to go into the Third Division and work their way up to the top flight one step at a time.

The point of this, the reason I mention it, is to share this wonderful, happy day with all. Jelly and ice cream for everyone!
