NO RESERVE AUCTION! 25% OF WINNING BID GOES TO CHILD'S PLAY CHARITY!
Attention collectors! Up for auction is a one-of-a-kind Nintendo 2DS, in a Luigi 30th birthday theme, created by us here at Rose Colored Gaming (RCG). We designed this item to resemble, as closely as possible, an official Nintendo limited release console. To that end, we created molds from which we cast dark green replica buttons, painted the shell in a combination of off-white and dark metallic green, built and printed a debossed inlay of Luigi’s silhouette which has been molded into the backside of the housing, and designed new box art to reflect all of these modifications.
Our purpose for building this 2DS was simply to show off some of what we are capable of doing here at RCG, with the intention of displaying it in our office after sharing images with our fans. Well, a few crummy cell phone images found their way onto the web before we could do much more than post a couple of in-progress images on our Facebook page. Many gaming news blogs/sites were of the impression that this modified console could be an official Nintendo release, and the story spread across the web. Since then we have received a number of requests to build and sell more of them. This was intended to be a one-of-a-kind item, and as such, there will not be a run of more than one. We are flattered by the interest and feel that keeping it in our office, on one of our shelves only to collect dust, may not be the best thing to do with it. So here it is. Up for grabs to the highest bidder. We hope that it finds its way into a good home!
25% of the final selling price will be donated to Child’s Play Charity.
Child’s Play accepts donations of both merchandise and cash in order to provide chronically and terminally ill children with something to do during hospital visits besides endure all the poking and prodding and other unpleasantries. As both a gamer and someone who suffers from chronic illness, I am overjoyed to be able to provide something to this cause.
