Auction Rarity – LOCHJAW Atari 2600

Heads up all you Atari collectors! There is a rarity lurking in the oceans of items listed on GameGavel. Have you spotted it yet? If not, keep reading to learn more about one of the rarest Atari 2600 games on the planet. I am talking about Lochjaw, a suspiciously looking Pac-Man, eat-the-dot clone, which debuted on Atari VCS in the early 80′s. It seems  Lochjaw was perceived by Universal to be an infringement on their JAWS property and evidently had Apollo Games change the game’s title, which they did, to Shark Attack. In doing so, the first run of Lochjaw carts were halted and boxes and cartridges with the new title started to flood the store aisles. Since there weren’t that many Lochjaw games that made it into consumers hands before Apollo pulled the ole’ switch-a-roo it has now become one of Atari’s most sought after raritys, achieving an R9 ranking on AtariAge.com.  And there is one listed on GameGavel right now!
